Standard Cost Worksheet

Updating Standard Costs using the Standard Cost Worksheet affects the cost category breakdown. To maintain consistency between implemented standard costs and item/capacity assigned cost categories, a check process has been implemented before applying new Standard Costs. A new page, “Cost Categories Differences,” has been created. This page allows users to review and update discrepancies between configured manufacturing/capacity overhead categories and current values. This functionality is crucial for maintaining accurate costing in manufacturing processes.

Step-by-Step Process

1. Select Items or Work/Machine Centers

  • In the Standard Cost Worksheet, select items with a Costing Method set to Standard or Work/Machine Centers.
  • Specify new values for Indirect Cost % and Overhead Rate.

2. Implement Standard Cost Changes

  • Click Implement Standard Cost Changes.
  • The system will validate if the new values differ from the previous ones.

3. Validate Values

  • The system sums the values from all lines with Type = Indirect Cost % and all lines with Type = Overhead Rate, considering the relevant date ranges:
    • If the summed values match the configured values in the Manufacturing/Capacity Overhead Categories, the process continues as standard.
    • If there are discrepancies, the Cost Category Differences page will pop up, displaying the differences and allowing users to update the manufacturing/capacity overhead category values.

4. Review New Values

  • If the New Value is Red, it means the new value differs from the configured value.
  • If the New Value is Green, it means the value is updated and matches the configured value.

5. Close or Update

  • Clicking “Close” (to return without updates) will assume the user does not wish to make changes, and the process will continue, leading to a validation error if discrepancies remain.
  • Clicking Update Overhead Category will open the Manufacturing/Capacity Overhead Categories page, filtered for the selected item’s/Work/Machine Center’s line. Users can update the relevant values.

6. Update Values

  • When closing the Overhead Category page, the New Value fields will turn Green if the updates match the previously selected values; otherwise, they remain Red.

7. Complete the Process

  • After all values are updated, the process continues as standard.
