Working with Free Items
Free Items
The Free Item feature in Advanced Price Management enables promotional offers such as “Buy X, Get Y Free.”
This would result in two sales lines. The original sales line containing the requested item and quantity. Then an additional sales line containing the free item and quantity.
Example “Buy 2 get 1 for free”
This example demonstrates how to configure a promotion where purchasing 2 units of item 1906-S grants 1 unit of item 1896-S for free.
- Create an Advanced Price Template, include a line with Line Type = Free Item.
- Create an Advanced Price List
- Apply it to All Customers.
- Select Item 1906-S and the appropriate Unit of Measure.
- Select Price Type = Free Item
- Define Free Item Conditions
- Open the Free Item Conditions page.
- Set Triggering Quantity = 2 .
- In Free Item Details, add:
- Item No.: 1896-S
- Unit of Measure: PCS
- Quantity: 1 Line Discount: 100% (fully free)

Set Advanced Price List Status as Active.

Create a sales order:
- Add line of 4 items 1906-S.
- The system automatically adds a line with 2 units of item 1896-S at 100% discount.
In the Sales Line Detail, a line of type Free Item is created, showing:
- The free item details
- The applied discount (e.g., 100%)
Key Features
- The free item is triggered per multiple of the defined Triggering Quantity
- Several Free Item lines can be defined for a single condition.
- The Line Discount can be set to 100% (fully free) or a partial value (e.g., 50%).
- The free item discount overrides any other item-specific discount for that line.
