Definitions
Production Line
Acts as a dedicated planning unit with its own starting and ending times, preparation and changeover times and planning characteristics. This feature is designed to enhance production order planning by allowing planners to schedule operations based on the specific configuration and timing of each production line, rather than relying solely on work centers. To each Routing, a Production Line can be assigned.
Preparation Time
The time required to set up or prepare a Production Line before starting the manufacturing process. It includes activities such as equipment setup, material positioning, and initial quality checks.
Changeover Time
The time required to transition between items or planning characteristics on the same Production Line.
Planning Characteristics
Specifies attributes or properties of an item that influence the planning and scheduling of production orders. Planning Characteristics serve as key inputs for determining production sequences, minimizing changeover times, and improving overall scheduling efficiency.
Factory Planning
A systematic approach to improving manufacturing efficiency by minimizing idle time, optimizing production sequences, reducing changeover times, and improving resource utilization.
