Item

The Item Card is extended by the Bricklead Production Optimization app to include Planning Characteristics, allowing manufacturers to optimize production sequences more effectively. These fields support enhanced production planning by assigning relevant classification data to items, such as allergen status, shelf life, temperature requirements, and more.

Setup

To configure Planning Characteristics on the Item Card, navigate to Items and open the desired Item Card.

• In the Planning tab, a new group called Planning Characteristics is displayed:

  • Up to 10 planning characteristic fields are shown, depending on the configuration in Factory Planning Setup. - Each field corresponds to a Planning Characteristic defined in the setup and provides a lookup to valid values from the Planning Characteristic Values page.

• The same fields are also added to Stockkeeping Units (SKUs).

Business Rules

• When a Stockkeeping Unit (SKU) is created, it inherits the Planning Characteristic values from the parent Item.

• If a Planning Characteristic is changed or deleted in Planning Characteristics page and is already used on the Item Card or SKU:

  • The corresponding field is cleared on the Item Card and SKU.
  • The change is visible after reopening Business Central.

• A warning message is displayed before removing or changing a Planning Characteristic used on an Item or SKU.
