Planning Characteristics per Production Line

Use Production Line specific Planning Characteristics to control which characteristics drive scheduling on each line and in which priority order they are applied. This lets you tailor sequencing (and changeover minimization) to the realities of each line without changing global definitions.

Setup

Where to configure:

  1. Open Production Lines and select a line.

  2. Choose Planning Characteristics action to open Prod Line Planning Characteristics.

  3. For each entry (up to 10 pre‑created rows per line), select a Code (from global Planning Characteristics).

  4. Set Priority for the codes that should influence sorting on this line (Priority 1 = highest). Leave Priority empty for characteristics that should not drive sorting on this line.

Business Rules

How Factory Planning uses production line‑specific characteristics:

  • Columns shown: On Factory Planning, the Planning Characteristics columns are determined by the Production Line filter. If the selected line has line‑specific characteristics with Priority set, those characteristics are shown. If there is none (or no Priority), Factory Planning falls back to the global Planning Characteristics with Priority defined.

  • Schedule action: Within each Block, Schedule sorts first by status (Released → Firm Planned → Planned), then by the production line‑specific Planning Characteristic priorities. If two lines tie on the same priorities, the system uses the Production Order No. to break ties.

  • Changing production line filter: Updating the Production Line filter changes the set and order of Planning Characteristics after you run Retrieve again.
