Production Line

The Production Line feature in the Bricklead Production Optimization extension introduces a structured way to define and manage manufacturing lines. Each production line has its own preparation time, working schedule, and default time ranges, supporting enhanced scheduling, sequencing, and changeover planning in the Factory Planning module.

Setup

Each production line is defined using the Production Line page, where you specify key operational parameters such as preparation time, working hours, and whether the line supports automatic splitting of production orders that exceed daily limits.

To define Production Lines, fill the following fields:

Field Description
No. Specifies the number of the involved entry or record
Name Specifies the name of the Production Line
Preparation Time Specifies the Preparation time when starting the Production Line
Preparation Time UoM Specifies the Preparation time unit of measure.
Default Starting Time Specifies the default starting time for this Production Line
Default Ending Time Specifies the default ending time for this Production Line
Default Optimization Subperiod Specifies how the orders are divided in subperiod blocks.
Automatic Split Specifies if there should be an automatic split of production orders when ending time is moved to next block.
You can associate Production Lines with Routings to ensure accurate scheduling across planning modules.

Business Rules

The Production Line feature follows strict business logic to ensure data integrity and consistent behavior across planning and routing processes.

  • Unique Production Line IDs: Each Production Line must have unique No. value. If a user attempts to create a Production Line with a code that already exists, the system will display an error.

  • Deletion Restrictions: A Production Line cannot be deleted if it is currently assigned to any Routing or Production Order Line.

  • Cascading Updates: If Production Line No. is updated and that line is referenced in existing Routings or Production Orders, the system will show a confirmation message. If the user confirms, the new Production Line code will be propagated to all related records.

  • Routing Status Constraints: When a Routing has the status Certified, the Production Line field becomes non-editable. This is enforced to maintain the integrity of certified production processes.

Condition System Behavior
Attempt to create a Production Line with an existing No. System prevents the operation and displays an error.
Deleting a Production Line in use by a Routing or Production Order Line. Not allowed.
Updating Production Line No. used in Routing or Production Orders The new No. is cascaded to all linked records.
Certified Routing Status The Production Line field is locked. Users cannot edit, add, or remove it from the Routing once certified.
