Integration with Manufacturing Essentials

The Production Follow-Up extension is designed to work seamlessly with Manufacturing Essentials, enhancing operational control and compliance on the shop floor. When both apps are installed, Production Follow-Up inherits additional fields, actions, filters, and business rules that ensure tighter integration between production tracking and operational status management.

Setup

Operational Status Field

The Production Follow-Up dashboard is extended with a new, non-editable Operational Status field for each production order line. Possible values include: Pending, Running, Completed, and In Review. This field reflects the operational state as reported by shop floor users and is inherited from Manufacturing Essentials.

Change Operational Status Action

A new action, Change Operational Status, is available on the dashboard. This allows authorized users to update the operational status of a production order line (e.g., set to Running, Completed, or In Review). Only users in the Production Manager group can set the status to In Review.

Prod Order Register Action

The Prod Order Register action opens a register showing the initial quantities when a production order was first set to Running.

Process Item Consumption Journal

Users can open the process item consumption journal directly from the dashboard for advanced consumption tracking.

Filters

The Operational Status filter is added to the Production Follow-Up Filters and FactBox, allowing users to filter the dashboard by operational status.

Business Rules

The following business rules apply when having both extensions installed:

Status Control and Validations:

  • Machine Status cannot be changed when Operational Status is Pending. Attempting to do so will result in an error.
  • Only Production Managers can change status when Operational Status is In Review.
  • Output and consumption can only be posted when Operational Status is Running. Attempting to post in any other status will result in an error.
  • Only production orders marked as Completed can be changed to status Finished.
  • Variance controls: Overconsumption or overproduction is highlighted in red and bold if it exceeds allowed variance, based on Manufacturing Essentials rules.
  • Co/By-Product Handling:
    • It is not possible to split Co/By-Product lines.
    • Machine Status cannot be changed for Co/By-Product lines.
    • If “Allow Machine Status control on Output” is enabled, validations are disregarded for Co/By-Product lines.
    • Capacity cost allocation is distributed according to Manufacturing Essentials settings when posting time entries as capacity ledger entries.
