This section explains key concepts used in Bricklead’s Shipping Fee app for Dynamics 365 Business Central.

What is a Shipping Fee?

A Shipping Fee is a charge applied to the delivery of goods from a seller to a buyer. It typically covers:

  • Logistics & transportation
  • Handling & packaging
  • Insurance (if applicable)

Shipping fees may vary depending on:

  • Package weight and dimensions
  • Shipping method (e.g., standard, express)
  • Delivery destination
  • Additional services requested by the customer

In Bricklead’s app, the Shipping Fee defines the base setup for additional costs that should apply to a sales or purchase document related to shipping.

Customer Shipping Fee

The Customer Shipping Fee defines the specific configuration for calculating and applying shipping charges to a customer’s sales documents.

This setup allows you to:

  • Assign default shipping fees per customer
  • Customize fees based on delivery preferences or regions
  • Automate fee application during sales order creation

Vendor Shipping Fee

The Vendor Shipping Fee defines the configuration for calculating and applying shipping charges to purchase documents involving vendors.

This setup enables:

  • Default shipping fees per vendor
  • Fee adjustments based on supplier terms or delivery methods
  • Automated fee inclusion in purchase orders

Free Carriage

Free Carriage refers to a shipping arrangement where the seller covers all transportation costs. In this case:

  • The buyer is not charged for shipping
  • The shipping fee is excluded from the sales document

This is commonly used for promotions, bulk orders, or specific customer agreements.
