Important Notes
- Shipping Agent Code must have a Vendor No. If not, when selecting a Transport Tariff Code, an error message appears.
- When changing the Shipping Agent on an already existing Transport Plan, the Transport Tariff Code will be updated to Empty.
- If the Vendor No. associated with the Shipping Agent Code has Prices Including VAT set to True, a warning appears.
Route Sequence
In some specific cases, a company can have long-term scheduled agreements with hauliers (or internal transportation) to pick up/deliver at the same addresses daily/weekly. This is known as a Route Sequence. If a Sequence is created, the Area-From and Area-To fields are disabled, as these fields will be replaced by the first and last area codes defined in the sequence.
Route Sequence Fields
Field | Description |
---|---|
Route Code | Specifies a unique identifier code for the Transport Route. Automatically filled with the Route Code previously selected. |
Sequence | Specifies the sequence of the picked/delivered addresses. Automatically filled. |
Source Type | Specifies the type of the transport address. Options are: Location, Customer, Vendor. |
Source No. | Specifies the source number of the transport address. Depending on the source type, options are Location, Customer, or Vendor list. |
Source Name | Specifies the source name of the transport address (Location, Customer, or Vendor name). |
Ship-To/Order-From Address | Specifies the ship-to/order-from address code of the transport address. If Source Type is Location, this field is disabled. If Source Type is Customer or Vendor, this field allows selection from all Send-To, Order-From addresses defined for the Customer/Vendor. |
Transport Area Code | Specifies the Area Code of the selected transport address. Automatically filled with the Transport Area Code defined on the entity (Location, Customer, or Vendor). It’s mandatory to have this field filled; otherwise, an error message appears. |
Rules for Route Sequence
- Source Type must always be “Location” for the first line in sequece. Transport sequence should always start from a Location.
- The same address can belong to two or more different route sequences (if the address has deliveries on different route days).
- If the Allow Duplicate Address on Same Route Day setting in Transport Management Setup is set to true, the same address can appear in different routes for the same day. If set to false, the same address cannot belong to two route sequences planned on the same weekday, and an error message appears.
- Changing routes is possible at any time but will not affect existing documents.
- Multiple locations can exist in a route sequence, especially to handle Transfer Orders.
- The sequence order in a Transport Route Sequence can be changed using the Move Up and Move Down actions.
Begin/Ending dates in Tariffs and Transport Plans
There are two main dates to have in mind:
Transport Tariff: Defines the costs for one or more transport plans for a specific time period.
Transport Plan: Defines all the routes that can be delivered by the contracted shipping agent for a specific time period.
Based on these:
The sales order/purchase order date will determine the available Transport Plans for that date. For each plan, the applicable Tariff for the same date will be determined. Several transportation plans may be suggested, but some may not have associated costs.
