Data Migration Wizard
The Data Migration Wizard for Advanced Attributes is an essential tool for comprehensive migration of attribute values assigned to related entities, such as:
- Item attributes (Standard item attributes)
- Vendor attributes
- Customer attributes
- Vendor Lot No. attributes
- Item Lot No. attributes
- Lot No. Information attributes
- Trading file attributes (when Bricklead Trading File app is installed)
- Commission & rebates agreement attributes (when Bricklead Commission & rebates app is installed)
Overview
The wizard operates using an Excel sheet that facilitates the export of data structures and actual values, supporting the implementation and import of new values.
Process
Setup Attributes
First, set up attributes (and optionally categories when needed). The Data Migration Wizard for Advanced Attributes supports every type of attribute (text, option, date, decimal, and integer).
Create Export Excel Template
-
Search for Advanced Attributes Management - Data Migration and open the page.
-
On the Export Entities page, select the entity(ies) for which you want to organize migration, then click on Export Entities to get an Excel file with the full data structure.

-
If you want to export already existing entities (e.g., already created customers) and their related attribute values, ake sure the Export Entities Data toggle is enabled.
-
Click on the Export Entities action. This will create an Excel workbook with each worksheet containing entity details.

Each line corresponds to an entity card and related attributes:
- The first column contains the entity code or number.
- The second column contains the entity description.
- Each additional column corresponds to an attribute defined for this entity (all attributes are mapped, whether they are promoted or not).
Fill in Attribute Values
Fill in the attribute columns in the Excel Worksheet with the attribute values to be migrated. Values should correspond to the data type of the attribute (option, text, date, decimal, integer). For options, it is possible to create values “on the fly” if you have not set up all the possible option values while creating the attribute. A setup parameter allows you to force option value creation during import. Save your Excel file after editing.
Start Import Process
-
In the Data Migration Wizard, click on Next Action and drop the updated Excel file in the drop zone.
-
Once the Excel workbook import process is completed, you’ll see the number of rows to be imported for each entity type present in the Excel workbook. You may select/unselect which entity attribute values you want to apply.

- If you want to enable option creation values “on the fly,” click on Settings and enable the Allow Create Option Values toggle before applying values.
Apply Attribute Values
Click on Apply action to validate the attribute value application.
Error Management (Optional)
If errors appear while applying new attribute values, the confirmation page will display a Show Errors action. Navigating the error page will help you understand which values are failing and how to fix them.

When you face an error, you can choose to fix or dismiss the issue.
- Dismiss action will just remove the attribute value from the import buffer, so it won’t appear anymore as an error. Attribute value is just not imported
- Fix: You can also choose to edit the attribute value (for example set the date in the expected user language format). Click on Edit action on top of the page with will enable edition for the attribute value field. Once done click on Migrate action to apply the corrected attribute value.
