Commissions & Rebates Setup

Installation

The application “Commissions & Rebates” is available on the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central AppSource.

Please review the Extension Installation Procedure for further information.

Permissions

To use this extension, all users need some extra permissions:

  • (ISATECH-LCM) “License Control Management”, for all users.

For the user of the extension (setup or read) there are some extra permissions:

  • (ISATECH-REB-READ) “Commissions and Rebates Read” for the user that just need to visualize rebates and commissions agreements.
  • (ISATECH-REB-EDIT) “Commissions and Rebates Edit” for the user that need to setup and manage rebates and commissions agreements.

Also have in mind if you’re using entity treeview features that user rights shouls also be set accordingly for this apps.

  • (ISATECH-ETV-READ) “Read Entities hierarchies” for the user that just need to visualize existing treeviews.
  • (ISATECH-ETV-EDIT) “Edit Entities hierarchies” for the user that need to setup and manage treeviews.

Assisted set up

This feature allows this extension to be set up with the minimum data to make it work. It is possible at any time to come and change these parameters. The next chapter will detail how.

  1. Using the Tel me what you want to do function, look for the assisted setup function

  2. On the Assisted Setup page, select the Setup Commissions and Rebates line to run the setup Wizard.

  3. As the setup wizard opens select Next to start setting up the apps.

  4. Setup Wizard can create automatically default number series to be used by the apps for agreements and for the sales and purchase documents (sales/purchase invoices/credit memos) that will be issued from agreements. Check the Automatic documents series checkbox to get those number series being created automatically. This will create a number serie “AGREE” for aggreement and series for the sales and purchase documents with prefix “REB”.
    If you don’t check this option, you’ll have to create it manually and setup them accordingly in the Commssions and Rebates Setup page.

    Click on Next to go the next setting.

  5. If you checked on previous step a new check box appears to offer you to use standard documents number series. If you check this field Same documents serie, number series will be retrieved from the sales & purchase modules setups.

    Click on Next to go the next setting.

  6. On the Employee Payment page you can define specific setup for GL posting of employee’s commissions, such as:

  • General Journal Template Name: When payment is triggered from commission agreement for an employee it will be transfered to this General Journal Template.
  • General Journal Batch Name: When payment is triggered from commission agreement for an employee it will be transfered to this General Journal Batch.
  • Commission Debit Account: Define here General Ledger Account to be used for commission debit.
  • Commission Credit Account: Define here General Ledger Account to be used for commission credit.
  • Employee Account Type: You can choose to post commission on a G/L Account or on an Employee. With the first option you’ll create “General Ledger Entries” only. With the latest you’ll create “Employee Entries”.
  • Employee GL Account: Only available if Employee Account Type is G/L Account. Select the General Legder Account to be used the employees (if using Employee Account Type == Employee General Ledger Account will be provided by the employee setup.).

    Click on Next to go the next setting.
  1. On Decimal Precision page, you can define how many digits you need for decimal precision in Commission and Rebates entries. A recommanded setting is 2. But some currencies or business cases (when working with weights) might require more digits. You can setup 0 to 5 decimal precision.

  2. Click on Next to go the next page. This would complete setup, you can validate your setup by pressing Finish.

Manual set up

If you go to the Commissions and Rebates Setup Page you can review your setup and update if needed.

Field Description
Agreement Nos Defines the number serie to be used for the commission and rebates agreement.
Sales Posted Invoice Nos. Defines the number serie to be used when posting sales invoices created by the commissions and rebates apps.
Sales Posted Credit Memos Nos. Defines the number serie to be used when posting sales credit memos created by the commissions and rebates apps.
Purchase Posted Invoice Nos. Defines the number serie to be used when purchase invoices created by the commissions and rebates apps.
Purchase Posted Credit Memos Nos. Defines the number serie to be used when posting purchase credit memos created by the commissions and rebates apps.
General Journal Batch Name Defines General Journal Batch to be used when posting Employee commissions.
Gen. Journal Batch Name Defines the code for the General Journal Batch to be used when posting Employee commissions.
Commission Debit Account Defines General Ledger Account to be used for employee commissions debit.
Commission Credit Account DefinesGeneral Ledger Account to be used for employee commission credit.
Employee Account Type You can choose to post commission on a G/L Account or on an Employee. With the first option you’ll create"General Ledger Entries” only. With the latest you’ll create “Employee Entries”.
Employee GL Account Only available if Employee Account Type is G/L Account. Select the General Legder Account to be used the employees (if using Employee Account Type == Emplouyee General Ledger Account will be provided by the employee setup.).
