Reference Item

An item can be marked as Reference Item, if it is the main Item on the BOM that is consumed by all output items.

To setup an Item as Reference Item, set the boolean field present on Production BOM to True:

On Prod. Order Components, if this field is filled on Production BOM, value will be inherited.

However, field is editable and can be manually changed:

Remarks

• Only one item can be marked as Reference Item.

• When selecting an Item as “Reference Item”, a validation is made to guarantee that Flushing Method field on Item Card is filled with any method except “Backwards” or “Pick + Backwards”, since it’s not possible to have a Reference Item with these Flushing Methods:

• It’s not possible to change Reference Item after there are posted consumption ledger entries.

• Item Tracking Lines are disbled for Reference Items, on Prod. Order Components, since the tracking information will be filled in on Post Ref. Item Intermediate Consumption.
