Getting Started
App Installation and Prerequisites
System Requirements
Advanced Manufacturing Statistics is designed to run within Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. As such, it requires an active Business Central environment with manufacturing capabilities enabled.
To ensure optimal performance and compatibility, the following conditions should be met:
- A supported version of Dynamics 365 Business Central (SaaS or On-Premises)
- Manufacturing module configured and operational
- Appropriate user permissions for production, inventory, and item tracking processes
Because the app extends standard manufacturing behavior, it is important that the underlying production setup - such as items, bills of material, and routing structures - is already in place and aligned with your operational model.
Before You Begin
Advanced Manufacturing Statistics builds upon standard Business Central manufacturing functionality and does not introduce a separate production process.
To get the most value from AMS, organizations should ensure that:
- Production transactions are recorded accurately.
- Net Weight values are maintained on manufactured items.
- Costing structures are properly configured.
- Work Centers and Machine Centers reflect the actual production environment.
- Overhead and indirect costs are maintained consistently.
The quality of the statistics provided by AMS depends directly on the quality of the manufacturing data available in Business Central.
Initial Setup Process
Getting started with AMS typically involves the following steps:
- Install the application.
- Run the Assisted Setup.
- Review Manufacturing Setup settings.
- Configure Cost Categories.
- Validate item Net Weight information.
- Review cost and overhead configurations.
- Start analyzing Production Order Statistics.
Detailed instructions for each configuration area can be found in the Setup & Cofigurations.
Understanding the AMS Approach
AMS enhances the standard Production Order Statistics experience by providing additional analytical views and manufacturing metrics.
Instead of changing how production is executed, the application focuses on improving how manufacturing results are analyzed and interpreted. Users continue working with standard Production Orders while gaining access to richer costing and performance information.
