Pages & UI Reference

Advanced Manufacturing Statistics extends standard Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central manufacturing functionality by adding new setup options, cost category management, and enhanced Production Order Statistics views.

This chapter provides an overview of the pages that users will interact with when configuring and using AMS.

Manufacturing Setup

Purpose

The Manufacturing Setup page contains the global AMS configuration used to control how manufacturing statistics are calculated and displayed.

AMS Fields

  • Rounding Precision (Statistics): Specifies the rounding precision used when displaying values in Advanced Manufacturing Statistics. This setting ensures consistent presentation of statistical information across all AMS views.
  • Weight Unit of Measure: Specifies the unit of measure used for net weight calculations and reporting throughout the application. This unit is used whenever weight-based statistics are displayed.

Cost Categories

Purpose

The Cost Categories page allows organizations to define and maintain the categories used to classify manufacturing costs.

Typical Categories

Advanced Manufacturing Statistics supports categorization of:

  • Material Costs
  • Capacity Costs
  • Capacity Overhead Costs
  • Manufacturing Overhead Costs
  • Subcontracting Costs

Usage

Cost categories are used by Production Order Statistics to provide a more detailed breakdown of manufacturing costs and variances.

Item Card

Purpose

The Item Card provides information used by AMS when calculating weight-based statistics and cost allocations.

Relevant Fields

  • Net Weight: Defines the net weight of the item and is used in weight-based production calculations.
  • Material Cost Category: Defines the cost category that will be used when component costs are analysed in Production Order Statistics.
  • Manufacturing Overhead Category: Defines the category used when analysing manufacturing overhead costs.
  • Indirect Cost %: Specifies indirect costs associated with the item, contributing to manufacturing cost analysis.

Work Center

Purpose

The Work Center Card contains information used for capacity cost and overhead analysis.

Relevant Fields

  • Capacity Cost Category: Defines how capacity costs are grouped within AMS statistics.
  • Capacity Overhead Category: Defines how capacity overhead costs are classified and reported.
  • Overhead Rate: Provides the basis for calculating capacity-related overhead costs.
  • Indirect Cost %: Specifies additional indirect costs associated with the production resource.

Machine Center

Purpose

The Machine Center Card contains the same AMS-related costing and categorization options available on Work Centers.

Usage

Machine Centers contribute capacity costs, overhead costs, and cost category information used in Production Order Statistics analysis.

Production Order Statistics

Purpose

The Production Order Statistics page is the primary analysis page within AMS. It extends the standard Business Central statistics page by introducing additional analytical views that help users understand production performance, costs, and profitability.

Available Views

  • Default View: Displays the standard Production Order Statistics information available in Business Central.
  • Net Weight View: Provides production statistics based on net weight calculations. This view helps organizations analyse costs per weight unit and compare production performance using weight-based metrics.
  • Cost Category View: Provides a detailed breakdown of production costs by category, allowing users to understand where costs are generated during the manufacturing process.

Key Information Available

Depending on the selected view, users can analyse:

  • Standard Cost
  • Expected Cost
  • Actual Cost
  • Cost Variances
  • Net Weight Metrics
  • Material Costs
  • Capacity Costs
  • Manufacturing Overhead Costs
  • Capacity Overhead Costs
  • Subcontracting Costs.
