Consumption Movements

In certain scenarios, users may need to consume only part of the quantity from a License Plate. By default, a License Plate can be stored in only one Location/Bin, but there are specific configurations needed to allow consumption of a partial License Plate.

Consumption/Production Journal Requirements for Partial Consumption

To enable partial consumption of a License Plate through the Consumption Journal, the following conditions must be met:

• The Location on the Consumption Journal Line must have the Consumption Location field enabled in the Location Card.
  • If this field is not enabled and the user attempts to consume part of a License Plate, an error will be displayed during posting.
• The Select Entries action from the Item Ledger Entries should allow the user to choose all available Lots and License Plates within the selected location.

Inventory Pick Requirements for Partial Consumption

When working with Inventory Picks (specifically for production consumption), additional validations are required for partial License Plate consumption:

• If the Source Document is set to Prod. Consumption and the Consumption Location field is enabled, the system allows partial consumption of a License Plate without assigning a Ship License Plate No.
  • The user can select entries and view all available Lots and License Plates in the location.
    The necessary quantity can then be posted without any further validation.
• If the Consumption Location field is not enabled and the user attempts to pick a partial quantity, an error message will be shown.

Key Validations Summary

1. Location Configuration: Ensure that the Consumption Location field is enabled on the Location Card to allow partial License Plate consumption.

2. Journal Entries: The system will display specific error messages if attempts are made to consume partially from a License Plate when the required configurations are not met.

3. Inventory Picks: Additional checks are performed for production consumption to allow partial quantities of License Plates to be moved.
