Move License Plate
The Move License Plate functionality allows for the transfer of entire License Plates or partial quantities of items within a warehouse, from one bin or location to another. This feature streamlines internal warehouse operations by enabling you to move grouped items under a License Plate quickly, ensuring that the License Plate’s tracking and inventory information are updated accordingly.
In the Move License Plate page, users can select the License Plate to be moved. The fields License Plate Type, Location Code, and Bin Code will be automatically populated based on the current location of the License Plate. The contents (items, variants, quantities, lot numbers) will also be auto-filled.
Full Movement
When selecting Movement Type = Full (moving all items), the Quantity to Move field is automatically populated with the total quantity of the items on the License Plate. Users must select a New Location Code and New Bin Code. If the same Location and Bin are chosen, the system will display an error message.
Upon posting, a reclassification journal will be automatically created and posted, based on the Item Journal Template defined in the License Plating Setup.
Partial Movement
For Movement Type = Partial (moving part of a License Plate’s contents), users must manually enter the quantity to move. Attempting to post with a Quantity to Move = 0 will result in an error.
If the quantity to move equals the total quantity of the License Plate, the following error will appear.
When assigning a new License Plate number, the system will automatically populate the New License Plate No. based on the License Plating Setup. Users must also fill in the New Location Code and New Bin Code.
Ship License Plate Assignment
Users can assign a Ship License Plate in a similar way, with the system generating a new License Plate number based on the setup. Alternatively, users can select an existing License Plate. If an existing License Plate is chosen, the system will lock fields like New License Plate Type, New Location Code, and New Bin Code to reflect the current inventory.
Error Handling and Validations
Several validations are enforced when moving a License Plate:
- Moving a lot to a License Plate that already holds another lot, when Multiple Lots Allowed is disabled, will trigger an error.
- Moving items to a License Plate that contains other items, with Multiple Items Allowed disabled, will also result in an error.
- Moving a License Plate to itself during partial movement will display an error.
- License Plates marked as Blocked cannot be moved, and attempting to do so will trigger an error.
- License Plates in use in other processes, like warehouse activities, cannot be moved until released.
- Empty License Plates cannot be moved, and the system will generate an error if attempted.
License Plates in Untracked Locations
If the License Plate is moved to a location that does not require License Plate tracking, the New License Plate No. will be automatically filled using the value from the Untracked Locations field in the License Plating Setup.
