Transfer Items From Non-Tracked to License Plate Tracked Locations
In a warehouse, License Plates are used to track and manage the movement of items more efficiently. When transferring items from a non-tracked location (one that doesn’t use License Plates) to a License Plate tracked location (where each item or group of items is associated with a unique License Plate), it’s necessary to assign License Plate numbers to the items being received.
When moving items from a non-tracked location to a License Plate tracked location using a Transfer Order, new License Plate numbers must be assigned at the receiving tracked location.
- For locations that do not require Warehouse Receipt: Assign new License Plate numbers directly on the Item Tracking Lines of the Transfer Order.
- For locations requiring only Inventory Put-away: The License Plate change can be performed on the Inventory Put-away or directly in the Transfer Order’s Item Tracking Lines, and the information will carry over to the Inventory Put-away.
- For locations requiring Warehouse Receipt: Update the License Plate numbers through the Item Tracking Lines on the warehouse document.
When using the Change License Plate action, users will see all items and lots available on the Transfer Order along with their quantities.
To assign a new License Plate number, users should use the Create License Plate No. function and fill in the necessary fields, which will create one or more License Plates for each item or lot. Note that lot numbers remain unchanged during this process. When posting the Transfer Order Receipt or Inventory Put-away, the items previously in the non-tracked location will be automatically reclassified under the new License Plates.
Additional Features
- Tracking updates: The field “License Plate No Updated” on the Item Tracking Lines shows whether a License Plate number has been updated. If the change has been made, this field will display “Yes.” To view the new License Plate numbers assigned, users can click on this field to open the New License Plate subform.
- Using existing License Plates: When transferring to a tracked location, users can select existing License Plates using the Change License Plate Type action. The system will validate exceptions, such as whether multiple lots or items are allowed. The list of available License Plates will be filtered by Location Code, Bin Code, and Blocked = No status.
Validations and Error Messages
- If the user does not change the License Plate number for the items being transferred to a tracked location, the following error will appear: “Not possible to post because not all items from non-tracked License Plate are moved to new tracked License Plate numbers.”
- If the quantity assigned to the new License Plates is less than the quantity to receive, an error message will appear.
- Direct Transfer Error: If the “Require License Plate Tracking” setting differs between the Transfer-From and Transfer-To locations, users cannot perform a direct transfer.
- If the Change License Plate No. action is used when the Transfer-From Code is License Plate tracked or the Transfer-To Code is not, the system will display this error.
- If the user tries to change the License Plate No when Quantity Undefined = 0, the error will show: “No undefined quantity left to create license plates for.”
