Inventory Put-aways
The Inventory Put-away functionality is enhanced to support over-output scenarios for production orders. These enhancements include:
- A new field, Shortage, added to Inventory Put-away Lines for tracking under-outputs:
- The Shortage field allows users to validate and complete an inventory put-away even if the quantity is less than requested.
- If all lines in an inventory put-away are validated with the Shortage field checked, the put-away is considered complete and deleted upon posting.
- An Output Variance Details Factbox to display over-output tolerance information for the selected put-away line.
- Business rules and validations to enforce operational status restrictions and manage variance policies for over- and under-output.

Business Rules
Operational Status Restrictions
- Inventory Put-aways can only be created if the associated production order’s Operational Status is Running or In Review (if the user is part of the Production Manager User Group).
- If a user tries to manually create an Inventory Put-away with Source Document = Prod. Output for a production order with an unsupported operational status, an error message is displayed.

Over-Output
-
Users can record a higher quantity than requested in the Quantity to Handle field.
-
The system checks the Variance Policy of the related Production Order Line to determine the behavior:
- If the Variance Policy is Warning the system displays a warning.
- If the user selects Yes, the Quantity to Handle is updated accordingly.
- If the user selects No, no changes are made.
- If the Variance Policy is Blocked the system displays an error.
- Posting is blocked until the recorded output is within the allowed tolerance.
- If the Variance Policy is Warning the system displays a warning.
-
If the Variance Policy is None, no warnings or errors are shown. The recorded output is accepted without restrictions.
Under-Output
-
Users can complete the inventory put-away despite under-output by checking the Shortage field.
-
When the Shortage field is checked for a line, it is validated during posting. If all lines in the put-away are validated, the put-away is completed and removed.
Splitting Lines
Users can split an Inventory Put-away Line to handle different lots or packages for the same production component line.
Under-Output
- No additional checks are required. Users can enter a lower Quantity to Handle and split lines as per the standard behavior.
Over-Output
-
The system checks the total quantity for all split lines associated with the same source production component line.
- The sum of Qty to Handle (from split lines) and Qty Handled (already consumed) must not exceed the total quantity from the original production order line, considering the allowed variances.
