Configure Manufacturing Variances on Production Order Component Lines
The Production Order Component Lines page is extended with five new fields when the Manufacturing Variances Management app is enabled: Variance Policy, Under-Consumption Tolerance (%), Over-Consumption Tolerance (%), Initial Quantity and Actual Quantity.
These fields ensure precise tracking and control over consumption variances and record the initial expected quantities for production components when the Operational Status is set to Running.

The fields Variance Policy, Under-Consumption Tolerance (%), and Over-Consumption Tolerance (%) are automatically populated during the following processes:
- Refresh Production Order: Applies to all operational statuses.
- Create Production Orders: Includes orders created through the Planning Worksheet, Order Planning, or Sales Order Planning (for both Item Order and Project Order types).
-
Flushing Method:
- If the item has Flushing Method = Forward, the Variance Policy is set to None, and the tolerance fields are cleared and non-editable.
- If the item has Flushing Method = Backward and Routing Link Code is empty:
- The Variance Policy is set to None.
- Tolerance fields are cleared and non-editable.
-
Process Items:
- The Variance Policy is set to None.

Initial Quantity: The Initial Quantity field is updated with the Expected Quantity value when the production order’s Operational Status is set to Running. If the operational status changes back to Pending and then to Running again, the Initial Quantity is updated with the current Expected Quantity.
