Planning Worksheet/Order Planning

Requisition Lines

The Requisition Line in Dynamics 365 Business Central is extended with four new fields when the Manufacturing Variances Management app is enabled. Setup defined at the item/SKU level will be transported to Requisition Lines. These fields are available for customization but are not visible by default on the Planning Worksheet and Order Planning pages. Users can add these fields via Personalization.

Field Name Description
Variance Policy Choose one of the following options:
Warning: The system will show a warning to alert the user when setting values outside the specified tolerances.
Block: This option does not allow the user to consume or produce above or below the specified tolerances.
None: No variance check is done (however, the variance is recorded).
Default value: The policy defined at the company level is used for this item.
Under Output Tolerance (%) Specifies the under-output tolerance percentage for the selected item.
Over Output Tolerance (%) Specifies the over-output tolerance percentage for the selected item.
Quantitative Review Specifies if the Quantitative Review should be done prior to closing a production order. Default means that the company (app setup) level setting applies for this item.

Business Rules

  • Running the Calculate Regenerative Plan Batch Job:

    • When the Calculate Regenerative Plan batch job is executed, these fields will be populated automatically.
  • Creating a Requisition Line Manually:

    • When a requisition line is manually created, the user must run the Refresh Planning Line action to populate the newly added fields on the requisition line.
  • Location Code and Stockkeeping Unit:

    • If a Location Code is defined on the Requisition Line, the system will first check if a Stockkeeping Unit is defined for the item. The corresponding values from the Stockkeeping Unit will be retrieved and applied to the fields.
    • If no Stockkeeping Unit is found for the item or no location is defined on the Requisition Line, the system will instead retrieve the values from the Item Card.
  • Applicability:

    • These fields are only applicable to requisition lines with Type = Item.

Planning Components

The Planning Components in Dynamics 365 Business Central are extended with three new fields when the Manufacturing Variances Management app is enabled. These fields allow users to define and manage variance policies and tolerances for individual materials when creating Production Order Components from the Planning Worksheet or Order Planning.

Default: The policy defined at the company level is used for this item.
Under Consumption Tolerance (%) Specifies the under-output tolerance percentage for the selected item.
Over Consumption Tolerance (%) Specifies the over-output tolerance percentage for the selected item.

Business Rules

When creating Planning Component Lines manually, the following rules apply:

  • Inheritance of Variance Settings:

    • Variance Policy, Over-Consumption Tolerance (%), and Under-Consumption Tolerance (%) are inherited from the Manufacturing Essentials Setup.
    • For items with Flushing Method = Forward or Backward, the Variance Policy is set to None, and the tolerance fields are cleared and non-editable.
    • Validation is performed using the Item No, as the Flushing Method is not directly available on this page.
  • Process Items:

    • For items marked as Process Item = True, the Variance Policy is set to None, and the tolerance fields are cleared and non-editable.
    • If the Process Item flag is deactivated, the tolerance fields are automatically populated with default values from the Manufacturing Essentials Setup.
  • Inheritance of Variance Values:

    • Variance fields are transferred to Production Order Components when created from the Planning Worksheet or Order Planning.
    • If the default Variance Policy is updated, existing requisition lines are updated upon clicking Refresh Planning Line.
  • Grouping of BOM Lines:

    • Lines with identical Item No, Calculation Formula, and Routing Link Code are grouped, and their quantities are summed.
    • If any field differs, separate Production Order Component Lines are created.

These rules ensure consistency and accuracy when managing Planning Component Lines within manufacturing workflows.
