Troubleshooting & FAQs
Common Issues and Solutions
Issue: The Recipe cannot be created
Possible causes:
- The Recipe Nos. field is not defined in Manufacturing Setup
- The user does not have sufficient permissions to create recipes
Resolution:
- Open Manufacturing Setup and ensure that the Recipe Nos. number series is configured
- Verify that the user has a permission set that allows creating recipes (e.g. Recipe Instructions – Basic)
Issue: The Recipe does not appear for a Production Order
Possible causes:
- No recipe exists for the combination of:
- Item No.
- Production BOM No. and version
- Routing No. and version
- The Production BOM or Routing on the production order differs from the recipe definition
Resolution:
- Review the Production Order configuration
- Ensure a recipe exists that exactly matches the Item, BOM, and Routing setup used on the production order
Issue: Changes to a Recipe are not reflected in production
Possible causes:
- The production order is linked to an older version of the recipe
- A new recipe version was created but not used for the production order
Resolution:
- Review the recipe version linked to the production order
- Ensure that new production orders use the updated recipe version
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q: Can I have multiple recipes for the same item? Yes. Multiple recipes can exist for the same item, as long as they are associated with different combinations of Production BOMs, Routings, or versions. This allows flexibility for different production methods or configurations.
Q: How does Recipe Instructions relate to Production BOMs and Routings? Recipe Instructions does not replace Production BOMs or Routings. Instead, it complements them by adding structured, version‑controlled instructions and documentation that guide production execution more clearly.
Q: Can I copy instructions between recipes? Yes. Recipe Instructions provides copy functionality that allows instructions to be duplicated between compatible recipes that use the same Production BOM and Routing. This helps reduce manual setup and ensures consistency.
Q: Are recipes automatically applied to production orders? Recipes are applied based on the production order configuration. A matching recipe must exist for the Item, Production BOM, and Routing combination used on the production order.
Q: Can I attached quality or regulatory documents to a recipe? Yes. Documents such as quality procedures, work instructions, or compliance guidelines can be attached directly to recipes and made available during production execution.
