Working with SSCC's
Understanding SSCC Statuses
Each SSCC number carries a status that reflects its current state in the picking and shipping workflow:
| Status | Description |
|---|---|
| In Progress | The SSCC is actively being worked on by a warehouse employee. Only one SSCC per user can be In Progress at a time. |
| Pending | The SSCC has been started but is temporarily set aside. This happens automatically when a user starts a new SSCC while one is already In Progress. |
| Completed | The SSCC has been packed and is ready for shipment. A completed SSCC cannot be deleted. |
Rule: Only one SSCC can be In Progress per user at any given time. When a user sets an SSCC to In Progress, any other In Progress SSCC belonging to that same user is automatically moved to Pending.
Assigning SSCC on an Inventory Pick
Once the Enable Outgoing SSCC Management option is enabled for a location, it is no longer possible to directly register Qty. to Handle on the Inventory Pick line. You should now use the SSCC Lines action or click on the Qty. to Handle figure to display the SSCC lines detail page.
Step-by-step:
- Open the Inventory Pick document.
- On a pick line, click the Qty. to Handle field or choose the SSCC Lines action from the line menu.
- The SSCC Lines page opens, showing:
- The source quantity, quantity already handled, quantity outstanding, and the total quantity assigned to SSCCs so far.
- Item details: item number, variant, description, lot number, serial number, expiration date, and warranty date (columns appear only when relevant data exists).
- If no SSCC number exists, click the New SSCC action to create a new SSCC number. Or, if you want to use an existing one, select it from the line dropdown.
- Enter the Quantity to assign to the selected SSCC on that line.
- You can register as many lines as required (if you need several pallets or packages to ship the same inventory pick line). Note that the sum of the line quantities must not exceed the Qty. Outstanding value.
- Close the SSCC Lines page. The sum of the line quantities is automatically written back to the Qty. to Handle field on the Inventory Pick line.
Important: You cannot assign quantity to a Completed SSCC. Only SSCCs with status In Progress or Pending are available for selection.
Note: You can always update SSCC Lines as long as the Inventory Pick has not been posted.
When creating a new SSCC from the SSCC Lines page:
A dialog box appears prompting you to confirm or change the Package Type. The type defaults to the value configured in SSCC Setup. If you already have an In Progress SSCC, you are asked whether you want to set it to Completed or leave it as Pending before the new one is created.
Assigning SSCC on a Warehouse Pick
Warehouse Pick registration works on the same principle as Inventory Pick.
On a Warehouse Pick, the Qty. to Handle field on Place lines is not directly editable when outgoing SSCC management is enabled. Click the field or use the SSCC Lines line action to open the SSCC assignment page and follow the same steps as described for Inventory Pick above.
Note: For Take lines on a Warehouse Pick, the Qty. to Handle field remains directly editable as usual.
Posting behaviour:
- When an Inventory Pick is posted, SSCC document links are automatically moved to the Posted Inventory Pick and copied to the corresponding Sales Shipment lines.
- When a Warehouse Pick is registered, SSCC document links are moved to the Registered Warehouse Pick and copied to the Warehouse Shipment lines.
- After posting, if any SSCCs linked to the activity are not yet Completed, the system asks whether you want to complete them before proceeding.
Viewing SSCC Lines on Posted Documents
Once an Inventory Pick is shipped, you can view the linked SSCC Lines by selecting the SSCC Lines action from either the document header or the document line.
The SSCC Lines action is available on the following posted and registered documents:
| Document | Header Action | Line Action |
|---|---|---|
| Posted Inventory Pick | ✅ SSCC Lines | ✅ SSCC Lines |
| Registered Warehouse Pick | ✅ SSCC Lines | ✅ SSCC Lines |
| Warehouse Shipment | ✅ SSCC Lines | ✅ SSCC Lines |
| Posted Warehouse Shipment | ✅ SSCC Lines | ✅ SSCC Lines |
| Posted Sales Shipment | ✅ SSCC Lines | ✅ SSCC Lines |
The SSCC Document Lines page displays:
- The SSCC number and its status.
- The item number, quantity, and unit of measure associated with each line.
