Business Essentials by Bricklead brings additional features and agility to your sales and purchase processes. Built as an extension for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, it addresses common business needs in the Food & Beverage industry and beyond — from managing customer agreements and order deviations to controlling document comments and warehouse workflows.
Key Features
The application provides the following feature areas:
- Add comments on your sales document headers (promotionnal information, specific customer agreement or delivery instruction) and lines (specific agreement for an item / item category).
- Define standard work instruction per customer to be shown on internal documents.
- Define customer listing and check that item ordered are matching the customer commercial contract.
- Clean up rows with a zero quantity when launching a document.
- Efficiently manage over shipments.
- Organize pick by FIFO for tracked item having no expiration dates.
- Shortage Management — Automatically or manually adjust order quantities when shipments or receipts do not match the originally ordered quantities.
Definitions
Advanced Comments: Predefined comments automatically added to sales and purchase document headers or lines based on customer, vendor, item, or item/customer relationships. Used to standardize external communication such as delivery instructions or commercial notes.
Work Instructions: Internal instructions defined per customer that guide operational teams during order processing. These instructions are not intended for customers but support consistent execution of sales and logistics activities.
Customer / Vendor Listing: A control mechanism that defines which items are allowed (or expected) to be sold to a customer or purchased from a vendor. Used to enforce commercial agreements and prevent incorrect item selection on documents.
Over-Shipment: A process that allows posting quantities higher than the ordered quantity on sales documents. Typically used in industries dealing with bulk or variable-weight products where the shipped quantity may slightly exceed the requested amount.
Shortage Tracking: Functionality to record and monitor discrepancies between ordered and delivered quantities in both sales and purchase processes. Supports customer satisfaction analysis and vendor performance evaluation.
Zero-Quantity Line Cleanup: Automatic removal of document lines with zero quantity when processing or releasing documents, improving document readability and preventing unnecessary data from being posted.
Document Communication Enhancements: Set of features (mainly Advanced Comments) that ensure consistent and automated communication on sales and purchase documents sent to external parties.
Operational Guidance Layer: Combination of Work Instructions and validations that provide internal users with guidance and rules to follow during document creation and processing.
Commercial Agreement Enforcement: Capability (primarily through Customer/Vendor Listing) to ensure that transactions respect predefined agreements between the company and its customers or vendors.
We understand by shortage the negative difference between the quantity delivered and the quantity ordered. The break may be on two levels:
- Partial outage: one or more lines of the order cannot be (or be partially) delivered.
- Complete outage: none of the products in the order can be delivered. Shortages concern both the sales process and the purchasing process.
