Default Planning Flexibility

General

The Default Planning Flexibility feature allows you to define how supply documents behave in planning scenarios by automatically assigning a Planning Flexibility value at the moment they are created.

This ensures consistency across Purchase, Transfer, and Assembly Orders whether they are created manually or generated through planning processes.

Setup

A dedicated group Default Planning Flexibility is available in the Business Essentials Setup, where you can define default values per document type.

Field Description Values
Purchase Orders Flexibility Defines the Planning Flexibility applied to Purchase Order lines at creation time. Empty means Standard behavior Empty, None, Unlimited
Transfer Orders Flexibility Defines the Planning Flexibility applied to Transfer Order lines at creation time. Empty means Standard behavior Empty, None, Unlimited
Assembly Orders Flexibility Defines the Planning Flexibility applied to Assembly Orders at creation time. Empty means Standard behavior Empty, None, Unlimited
By default, all values are set to Unlimited.

How It Works

The configuration is applied only at document creation time, ensuring that all supply documents follow a consistent planning behavior from the start.

Manual Document Creation

When a user creates:

  • A Purchase Order
  • A Transfer Order
  • An Assembly Order

The system automatically assigns the Planning Flexibility value based on the setup defined in Business Essentials.

Planning-Driven Creation

When supply is created through:

  • Planning Worksheet
  • Requisition Worksheet
  • Order Planning

The system applies the Planning Flexibility from Business Essentials Setup when the final document is created. The value defined on planning lines is not transferred to the resulting document.

Key Behavior

  • Planning Flexibility is determined centrally through Business Essentials Setup
  • It is applied once at document creation
  • It is not re-evaluated after the document is created
  • Planning worksheet values are not inherited by the document
