The Quantity / Handling Quantity does not match the accepted Weight Tolerance
Cause
The relationship between the entered Quantity and Handling Quantity exceeds the tolerance defined on the item.
This validation can occur in:
- Sales documents.
- Purchase documents.
- Warehouse documents.
- Transfer Orders.
- Physical Inventory Orders.
Resolution
- Review the item’s Weight Tolerance (%).
- Verify the normative conversion defined on the Item Units of Measure.
- Recalculate the Quantity and Handling Quantity values.
- Adjust one of the values until the conversion falls within the accepted tolerance range.
Handling Quantity Is Not Automatically Calculated
Cause
The required normative weight conversion may be missing or incorrectly configured.
Resolution
- Open the Item Card.
- Review the Item Units of Measure setup.
- Confirm the normative conversion between the Handling UoM and the Catchweight UoM.
- Validate that the item has been configured as a Catchweight Item.
Unable to Complete a Warehouse Receipt, Shipment, Pick, or Put-away
Cause
The quantity entered during warehouse processing does not respect the item’s accepted weight tolerance.
Resolution
- Review the Qty. to Handle, Qty. to Receive, or Qty. to Ship.
- Review the related Handling Quantity value.
- Verify the normative conversion.
- Adjust the quantities so the ratio falls within the item’s accepted tolerance.
Unit of Measure Cannot Be Deleted
Cause
The Unit of Measure is being used by one or more Catchweight Items as:
- Catchweight Unit of Measure.
- Sales Handling UoM.
- Purchase Handling UoM.
Resolution
Review the affected Item Cards and remove or replace the Unit of Measure before attempting deletion.

Q: What is the difference between Quantity and Handling Quantity?
Quantity represents the quantity in the item’s Catchweight Unit of Measure (typically KG or LB). Handling Quantity represents the operational quantity used for purchasing, sales, warehousing, transfers, and logistics activities (for example Boxes, Crates, or Pieces).
The system uses the item’s normative weight conversion to calculate the relationship between the two values.
Example:

Q: What is a Normative Weight?
A normative weight defines the expected conversion between a Handling Unit of Measure and the Catchweight Unit of Measure.

- 1 Crate = 25 KG
- 1 Piece = 1.5 KG
The normative weight is used throughout sales, purchasing, warehouse, transfer, planning, and inventory processes.
Q: What is Weight Tolerance?
Weight Tolerance defines the acceptable variance between the normative weight and the actual weight entered by the user.
Example:

If the entered values fall outside the accepted range, the transaction cannot be validated until the discrepancy is resolved.
Q: Can I change the Unit of Measure on a Catchweight transaction?
No. When working with a Catchweight Item, the Sales Unit of Measure or Purchase Unit of Measure is automatically initialized from the item setup and cannot be changed on the document line.
Q: Can I manually update Quantity?
Yes. However, the system validates the relationship between Quantity and Handling Quantity against the item’s normative weight and weight tolerance. If the values exceed the allowed tolerance, the update is rejected.
