Getting Started
App Installation and Prerequisites
System Requirements
- Dynamics 365 Business Central (Essential or Premium edition).
- Permissions to install apps from Microsoft AppSource.
- Manufacturing Setup
- Production Orders, Routings, and Work Centers must be configured.
- Machine Status Control must be enabled where Production Follow Up functionality is required.
Optional Bricklead Extensions but recommended. The following extensions are optional but recommended, as they enhance integration and data consistency across manufacturing processes:
- Manufacturing Batch Size
- Quality Requirements & Specifications (QRS)
- Advanced Attributes
- Manufacturing Planning Optimization
- Production Scenarios
- Recipe Instructions
- Manufacturing Essentials
Application Requirements
- Only Released Production Orders with routing lines are tracked.
- Machine Status control is available only for manual flushing methods.
- Machine Status transitions are logged into Time Entries for audit and analytics purposes and do not impact production order costing.
- By configuration it is possible to post machine status transactions as capacity ledger entries.
Instalation Steps
- Navigate to Extension Management in Dynamics 365 Business Central.
- Search for “Production Follow-Up” by Bricklead in AppSource.
- Select Install and accept the terms and conditions.
- Wait for installation completion (typically 2-3 minutes).
- Refresh your browser to see new menu items.
First Steps with Production Follow-Up
Review Production Follow-Up Setup
After installation, the first recommended step is to review and validate the setup configuration:
- Open Production Follow Up Setup from the Search menu.
- Review key settings such as:
- Machine Status control behavior
- Allowed status transitions
- Time registration requirements
- Validation rules applied during execution and posting
These settings define how Production Follow Up controls production execution across all relevant pages.
Start Using Production Follow-Up
Once setup is complete, users can begin working with Production Follow Up as part of daily operations:
- Open a Released Production Order
- Review routing lines and machine status indicators
- Use Production Follow Up actions to:
- Change Machine Status
- Reopen Machine Status (if allowed)
- Monitor execution progress
- Register execution and time directly from PFU enabled pages or the dashboard
All validations defined in the setup are applied automatically during execution.
