Overview

Introduction

Production Scenarios allows you to define different manufacturing configurations for the same item by combining item, variant, location, process type, and effective date with the production data that should be used for execution. A scenario can hold the Production BOM, BOM version, Routing, Routing version, family information, and a default flag that determines whether it should be inherited automatically in planning and production processes.

The app starts by defining Process Types, which represent the production approach or manufacturing methodology you want to use. A Process Type can also be marked as a Family type, enabling family-specific planning and execution behaviors.

Key Usage Scenario’s

  • Multiple Production Scenarios defined for the same Item/Stockkeeping Unit.
  • Full tracking and traceability of disassembled products.
  • Intermediate Consumptions (for cases when the consumption quantity is not known until the beginning of the production process).
  • Family Production Orders Planning

Key Concepts and Definitions

  • Production Scenarios: The Production Scenarios can define multiple Bill of Materials (BOMs), routings, and/or production units of measure for a single output item. These scenarios are categorized by Process Type and enable flexible planning and execution of production based on varying requirements.
  • Process Type: Defines the different methods by which an output item can be produced. This categorization helps organize production workflows according to specific characteristics and operational needs, facilitating efficient planning and execution.
  • Family: A group of end-items that share similar design and manufacturing characteristics. This grouping allows for aggregate planning, monitoring sales performance collectively, and occasionally aggregating costs at the family level. Families streamline production and inventory management.
  • Reference Item: Main component in a Family that is consumed by all output items.
  • Default scenario behavior: Only one default production scenario can exist for the same combination of Item No., Variant Code, and Location Code. When a default scenario exists, it is used by planning and production processes whenever the date conditions are valid.
