Permissions
Setting the correct permissions in the License Plating app is essential to ensure that users can efficiently manage License Plates according to their roles and responsibilities.
By assigning the appropriate permission sets, businesses can control who can perform key tasks such as managing License Plates, posting transactions, or deleting empty License Plates.
This ensures data security, prevents unauthorized changes, and promotes accountability across users with varying levels of access.
((BRILPL_READER))- “License Plating - Reader” - Users using this Permission Set can read all tables related to License Plating.((BRILPL_BASIC))- “License Plating - Basic” - Users using this Permission Set can access (edit, delete and post) all tables related to License Plating, except delete License Plates, manually or through the Report “Delete Empty License Plates”.((BRILPL_ADMIN))- “License Plating - Admin” - Users using this Permission Set can access (edit, delete and post) all tables related to License Plating.
Data Retention and Privacy
Data Storage
License Plating stores operational information required to support License Plate management throughout warehouse processes.
Depending on the transactions performed, information may include:
- License Plate Numbers
- License Plate Types
- Location, Zone, and Bin information
- Item information and quantities
- Lot and Serial Number references
- Inventory movement history
- Warehouse transaction references
- Assignment and transfer records
This information is stored within the Business Central database and remains available for operational reporting, inventory analysis, and traceability purposes.
Historical License Plate information may remain available even after a License Plate becomes empty, allowing organizations to maintain a complete audit trail of warehouse activities.
Privacy Compliance
License Plating is designed to manage inventory and warehouse-related information rather than personal data. However, information recorded through warehouse transactions may indirectly relate to user activities performed within Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, including:
- Inventory movements
- Warehouse postings
- License Plate assignments
- Inventory adjustments
Organizations should ensure that their use of Business Central and License Plating complies with applicable data protection regulations, including any local, national, or industry-specific requirements. Privacy compliance remains the responsibility of the organization operating the solution.
Data Archiving
License Plating does not introduce a dedicated archiving mechanism for License Plate data. Data retention and archiving strategies should follow the organization’s standard Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central policies and procedures.
Depending on operational requirements, organizations may decide to:
- Retain License Plate history for traceability purposes
- Archive historical transaction data
- Apply company-specific retention policies
- Periodically review historical warehouse records
Before removing historical information, organizations should evaluate any operational, audit, regulatory, or compliance requirements that depend on inventory traceability.
Security Best Practices
- Assign permission sets according to user roles (Read, Basic, Admin).
- Restrict Admin permissions to users responsible for setup and automation.
