Troubleshooting & FAQs

Common Issues and Solutions

License Plate Tracking Cannot Be Enabled for a Location

Possible Causes

  • The location is configured as a Directed Put-away and Pick warehouse.
  • Bins are not enabled.
  • The location is an In-Transit Location.

Verify the location configuration and ensure that:

  • Bins are enabled.
  • Directed Put-away and Pick is not enabled.
  • The location is not defined as an In-Transit Location.

Unable to Post a Receipt into a Tracked Location

Possible Causes

  • A License Plate was not assigned.
  • A License Plate transfer or reclassification is still pending.
  • Required License Plate information is missing.

Review:

  • The receipt document.
  • Assigned License Plates.
  • Transferred License Plate Nos.

Ensure all License Plate information has been created and validated before posting.

Transferred License Plate Shows “Not Posted”

Possible Causes

The inventory receipt was posted successfully, but the License Plate reclassification process did not complete.

  1. Open Transferred License Plate Nos.
  2. Review the records with Posted = No
  3. Run the Transfer License Plate action to complete the outstanding reclassification.

After successful processing, the Posted field should be updated.

License Plate Cannot Be Selected During Shipping

Possible Causes

  • The License Plate is blocked.
  • Inventory has already been assigned to another process.
  • Inventory is no longer available.
  • The License Plate is located in a different warehouse location or bin.

Review the License Plate Card and verify:

  • Current inventory availability.
  • Assigned quantities.
  • Location and bin information.
  • License Plate status.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q: Why can’t I create or use a License Plate in a warehouse transaction?

Several factors can prevent a License Plate from being used:

  • The License Plate is blocked.
  • The License Plate does not exist.
  • The transaction location requires License Plate Tracking and no License Plate has been assigned.
  • The License Plate belongs to a different location or bin than the one being processed.
  • The License Plate has no available inventory.

Always verify the License Plate Card and the warehouse transaction details before posting.

Q: Why is the system automatically assigning a License Plate Number?

When inventory is processed in a location that does not require License Plate Tracking, the system can automatically use the default License Plate configured for untracked locations. This ensures inventory remains compatible with License Plating functionality while avoiding unnecessary user interaction.

Q: Can I change the License Plate Type after a License Plate has been created?

Yes. The License Plate Type can be changed directly from the License Plate Card whenever operational requirements change. For example, inventory originally received on a pallet may later be transferred to a container or another handling unit type.

Q: Can I delete a License Plate?

A License Plate can only be deleted when system conditions allow it. If the License Plate is configured as Reusable, deletion is prevented to allow the License Plate to remain available for future operations. It is recommended to review the License Plate status before attempting deletion.

Q: Why does my empty License Plate still appear in the system?

This is expected behavior. When a License Plate becomes empty, the system preserves its historical information and transaction history for audit and traceability purposes. This allows users to investigate previous inventory movements even after all inventory has left the License Plate.

Q: Can multiple items be placed on the same License Plate?

Yes, provided that the License Plating Setup has been configured to allow multiple items on a License Plate. Organizations that require dedicated pallets per item can disable this behavior in the setup.

Q: Can multiple lots be stored on the same License Plate?

Yes, if the Multiple Lots Allowed setting is enabled in License Plating Setup. Many organizations choose to disable this option to simplify warehouse handling and traceability.

Q: Why can’t I partially consume inventory from a License Plate?

Partial consumption is only supported when the location is configured as a Consumption Location. If the location is not configured accordingly, the system may require the complete License Plate quantity to be processed. Review the Location setup to verify the configuration.
